J  Hello! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Last Thursday I sent home a schedule of conferences for this week. If you are unable to make it at the time scheduled please let me know and I will reschedule. Thanks!

Also, regarding the conferences, please note that they are only 15 minutes long. If we need to spend more time discussing your child’s progress we can arrange another time to meet.

Report cards for the first quarter will be sent home this Friday, October 4.

The Pancake Breakfast with the Principal will be this Friday, October 4, as well.

Monday, October 7, through Friday, October 11 will be Fall Break. There will be no school that week.

In science this week we will begin to read and learn about bats.

HOMEWORK:

This week’s spelling words are attached to the newsletter.  Please be sure that your child reads and practices these words every day. Your child’s spelling test scores directly reflect the time they spend reading and practicing the words.

The reading log must be completed and is due on Monday. It is essential that your child read as much as possible to strengthen her/his reading skills.

Please write your child’s name in three spaces indicating times that you would be able to come in. I will make every effort to schedule a time that you request. I look forward to meeting with you!

Tomorrow, September 17, is our La Paloma Academy read-in.  It would be a great opportunity to spend time reading with your child at school! And, you can enjoy an ice cream sundae together too! I hope to see you then!

Wednesday, September 18, is a special Duds For Dollars Day to raise funds for the garden project.

Monday, October 7, through Friday, October 11 will be Fall Break. There will be no school that week.

This week in science we will conclude our focus on simple machines. In social studies we conclude our focus on national symbols.
