Hi! I hope you had great
weekend
Please remember to check your
child’s homework every
day.
Last week I mistakenly wrote in the newsletter that we
had a special Duds for Dollars Day on that Wednesday. If your child brought in
a dollar I asked her/him to take it home for the next Duds for Dollars
Day. Well, the actual Special Duds for
Dollars Day, to benefit the PE program, is this
Wednesday, September 17. So, students may bring their dollar and dress down
again this Wednesday. J
Attached
is a schedule for conferences next week.
Please sign up for 3
conference times. I will make every effort to accommodate your request. The
time allotted is 15 minutes. If we need
more time to talk we can arrange an additional conference time when we meet. Thank
you.
So
that you may plan ahead – Fall Break is Monday through Friday, October 5-10.
There will be no school that week.
UPCOMING IN CLASS:
This week students will learn
some long and short vowel spelling rules, suffixes -ed and -ing, and sight
words. In reading students will continue
to discuss character,
setting and plot of a story.
In math students will review place
value, skip counting, regrouping, and solve word problems.
CONTACT NUMBERS
The phone number for La
Paloma Academy is 721-4205. If you wish
to communicate through email, you may reach me at kwitt09@yahoo.com.
(Since I may not recognize your email address, please enter your child’s
name as the subject so that I know it is legitimate email – thanks).
HOMEWORK:
Please assist your child with
his/her homework if necessary and be sure he/she returns it the next day.
This week’s
spelling word list is attached to Monday's newsletter. We are reviewing words with suffixes. Please
have your child read and practice the words daily.
Also attached to the newsletter is this week’s reading log. Children should read every day to improve his/her
reading skills. This is a required
assignment due on Monday and YOUR CHILD must be the one completing the reading
log.
Have
a great week!
J Have you any idea how many kids it takes to turn off one light in the kitchen? Three. It takes one to say, "What light?" and two more to say, "I didn't turn it on." - Erma Bombeck
